People need to see whom and what they are voting against and the most effective way to change a people's perception is through the power of images.
The more the world is permeated with images of gay and lesbian couples and families, the harder it will be for homosexual relationships to be considered "other."

The failure of the "no on 8" and "no on 1" campaigns was that they fought the battle on the enemy's terms. These campaigns, far from portraying same-sex couples and families as healthy and happy, didn't portray them at all. The Ads against proposition 8 in California, and Question 1 in Maine, failed to have a real emotional impact because they failed to take advantage of the power an image has to move people's emotions.
The importance of STATES OF UNION lies in its ability to reach people from various backgrounds on a personal level, by sending a political message in a seemingly non-political way. It is imperative that we start educating the public now!
Campaigning frenetically right before an important vote is like getting the flu shot when you already have the flu -
the virus is already there.
